Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparison where relevant.
The bar chart compares the numbers of families dwelling in their own or rented houses in England and Wales from 1918 to 2011
Obviously, renting houses became a less popular accommodation choice over the time, while a higher percentage of families settled in their own homes.
In 1918, more than three-quarters of households in England and Wales needed to rent accommodation, compared to only about 22% of those owning their private living place. Whilst the former decreased gradually during the half following decade, the opposite was true for the latter. In 1971, both figures recorded 50%, half living in owned and half in rented accommodation.
From that time onwards, renting houses lost its popularity when its figure generally showed a fall of under 20%. In contrast, house possession’s figure increased to nearly 70% in 2001 before a trivial decrease in the last 10 years.

Cam 13 Test 2 Writing Task 2
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In the past, people led very restrictive lives, they took the profession of their fathers, ate the foods locally available, and lived in the places their families had lived since immemorial time. This has changed in the modern-day, as people have much more freedom to pursue whatever they want to do, however, some believe that this is not a positive outcome for individuals. This is a shortsighted outlook and fails to recognize the benefits of increased numbers of options in our lives.
When people decry the amount of freedom modern people possess, it is usually because they are fundamentally unhappy about their own lives and decision-making processes. They want someone else to make these choices for them because they are unwilling or unequipped to do so for themselves. This makes it not a problem of innumerable choices, but simply because of their own personal defects.
One cannot deny the social and economic benefits of the choices present in modern-day society. People can pursue whatever education or profession they wish to and this alone has significant effects on social mobility, as well as personal happiness. If someone truly believes they are unhappy with the power they have over their own lives, they have probably not experienced the alternative.
While some disaffected individuals may believe that they suffer from the pain of having too many decisions to make in their lives, their belief is probably ill-founded in their own distress.
